Mulch / wood chips in outdoor run - is pine a problem?

As long as the cedar is open to air there is no problem. It is only when u use shaved chips in an enclosed area. It affects their respiratory system.

I use sand in my other runs, but sand would be a pain to shovel out of this run next spring.
