Times are changing I guess, I consider them mullets as long as the hair is shorter up front than the long hair in the back.

That’s just “off the shoulders with bangs”. The sides are not even remotely close to having seen a shaver. That’s the key detail of the “THEN” mullet. Long back, bangs in the middle, #2 shaved sides; akin to a high and tight. Or if you wanna go back to the early 90’s the “stove pipe” style that Kid Rock had for their LP “Grits sandwiches for Breakfast.”
