As in multiple broodies, and questions. I have 5 broody Muscovies. 4 on eggs, and one "parasite" that shares nests. I candled them today, and the result is as follows:
1. is due in 2 weeks. 4 viable eggs.
2. + 3. 4-5 days after 1. 5 eggs.
4. same as 2. 4 eggs.
5. in a month. 4 very dirty, nasty eggs.
I was thinking of putting all of them in one, enclosed pen (about 4x10 meters) for security reasons. Would this work, or would they attack each other's ducklings? Or will they share motherhood and kids? I don't have enough suitable pens to separate all of them.
How long would they have to stay with their mother?
I have way too many ducks as it is, and am going to sell the ducklings as fast as possible. However, I don't want mother to go broody again right away (no more ducklings this year, you hear me girls?!), or be traumatized from me taking her kids away.
Sigh. These broodies are giving me a headache...
