Multiple Coops!

Hello - I am new to BYC and have a question about coops...I have one coop that is large enough for 8 hens and another that is large enough for 4 hens. If I place both of them in the fenced in space for the hens, and enclose the various hens in "their coop", will the hens know to return to that specific coop each night or will I have 12 hens trying to get into one coop? I would rather not build or buy another coop that fits them all! Thanks for the help!

I would say they would roost all together but that's just my guess.

I have two coops and one enclosure, and I leave them to it. I usually get 4 birds in the 10 bird coop and 10 birds in the 4 bird coop! They will go wherever suitable for them,
