Multiple problems with day old chick! Help!

I like to offer water from a cup and let them drink on their own. Perhaps the electrolytes are too strong tasting? Does he take plain water without gasping?

I dipped his beak in a cup of water and he drank a tiny bit and the gasps for a little bit before going back to chirping. He’s done this every time I’ve tried to water him. Electrolytes or not

The gasping could be a bad sign, possibly of a birth defect or a sign that the chick may not make it. I certainly hope not, but he may be weak.
