Anyone have luck keeping young roosters in their flock when there is already an established dominant rooster if they are raised alongside the big guy without issues later of is there a good chance they will fight eventually. Young roosters are 8 weeks and 16 weeks he doesn't seem phased by them at all at this point.

Our older roosters chase off our young ones too. The young ones wait until last to go in the coop, then sleep by the door so they are the first out. They've got pullet siblings that stick with them and do the same thing.

I think it's just their nature that the older one(s) are threatened by the newer ones trying to take their turf, as in hens.

Ours all free range so the young ones, along with their siblings, seem to try to avoid the older ones. There's an old hen that's horribly mean to them too. If she wasn't so old, she'd be soup.

There will be fights, no doubt. Usually they are short-lived until each winds up with their own hens and leaves the others alone.

Hello, yes, I do have luck keeping 2 roos in a flock of 10 hens. When I introduced a young cockerel, Ledo, into Benny's flock (Benny was 1-2 yrs old at the time, and Ledo was a few months old. Note that Ledo was NOT raised with Benny). Benny and him started fighting, but when Ledo had a growthspurt and was much bigger than Benny, he used that as an advantage and ultimately defeated Benny (which might happen to your chicks, they might grow bigger and stronger than the dominant roo and will want to be dominant over him.) It took many gruesome fights for them to finally agree that Ledo was dominant over Benny and that he ruled the flock. Ledo took out a chunk of Benny's comb once. I've heard on here that when roos fight, they might take an eye out or even worse, so Ledo's and Benny's fights were nothing compared to other roo's fights. Ledo will remind Benny every day that the girls are Ledo's girls, and not Benny's, and therefore he cannot come around the hens. Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps.
