Just watched your videos and looked at the pics. I am in love with them. They are SO CUTE!!!! I love how that little duckie is chirping away as duck number 4 is hatching...HA! They are precious. Have you had a chance to sex them?

I tried but they are too wiggly to do it on my own and my bf works away on 48 hour shifts. He won't be back until Thurs. May try again tomorrow when they are getting sleepy! They are so cute I have to agree . I took them outside today and put them in their run which is waiting for them. Was worried about the big ducks going after them. But they didn't seem that bothered! I let them out at one point to see if they'd follow me...nope! As soon as one walked off they'd all go that way. It was mayhem! I gave all 5 a little bath tonight, they were splashing all over the place!
I've had to put their drinker up on an upturned dish so it's too high for them to get in and paddle! I've cleared out the flooded brooder twice today!
They have now gone to bed for the night, been a busy day for them! The bigger ones have knocked over the soft toy duck, climbed up and are sleeping on top of it. But poor no.5 as he's so little, his lil legs can't get him up! He kept trying, then gave up and just snuggled into its side!
What are you using for a brooder by the way?

Hey There! I'm Back! Had a great time and will post pictures soon. A really pretty place though, definitely one I want to return to! That is odd that your ducklings don't follow you, did you try running past them to get there attention? Duck cages are messy messy! Daily changes from here out! Bet there growing fast, stuffed duck was a good idea-I give mine stuffed animals to.

OOH! I just remembered! It was so cool when we got to the island I told my dad that I wanted him to show me how to find sand dollars and the very next day when we went down to the beach there was a perfect sand dollar just lying there on the sand. It had just washed up!! Thank You Beach!

What are sand dollars!? Actual dollars or some funny named shell or something!? Lovely to have you back, missed talking to you! So pleased you had a lovely time away. Wow you went to an island that's so cool. Dud you see any alligators? Can't wait for pics! Last place I went too was Thailand about 5 years ago and that was a disaster (long story!)!

Duckies are doing well. Having to clean them out twice a day! They are getting so big. Tried to sex them and could only find one male. So either I'm lucky or they were clenching!
Nope I didn't think of running past them haha. I'll try it tomorrow! They really love swimming in the bath (had to upgrade from the sink!), they dive down and swim underwater. Well all except for no.5 but she is only little. I found a little duckling soft toy I used to have when I was a kid so I've given them that too, they love snuggling up.

Sand dollars are shells and they are really awesome! At least I think so. The only alligator I saw was this one.
Post more pictures later I promise but have a hurt duck to mend to!

Wow if that top thing is a sand dollar that's amazing. We don't have anything like that! Aww poor deaded alligator. Better than meeting a live one though, well I'd say so!

Yes that is a sand dollar. I was so glad to find one! My mom and I were hunted by a real alligator a few months ago, but that is a story for another day. I am not sure what happened to him, when we came home he is limping real bad but it doesn't seem broken. I think maybe it is a sprain so I was soaking it. Not much better though. I'll figure it out though, no worries. Sleep Well, I missed talking with you as well. Until next time.....

So is the sand dollar a kind if fossilized shell? I'll have to Google it. The only thing I know of sand dollars is that I have a Finding Nemo game app on my phone on which you earn sand dollars. I thought they were just a made up fishy currency for the game. It's cool to know they're real!
That sounds awful about being hunted by a 'gator! Sounds like an interesting but scary story!
Hope the ducks leg gets better, I'm sure with your expertise it will be fine keeping my fingers crossed you you both!

I have always dreamed of finding a whole sand dollar.. Never have, only pieces. Last time we were in Florida, some divers were coming off the beach as we were coming on.. One walked by me and just handed me this perfect, beautiful whole sand dollar!! <3

I kept it for a couple years.. It just broke a couple months ago. I hope next time we go maybe I'll be able to find one on my own- I'm just too chicken to wade out to a sand bar myself to find one, lol!

Anyway, that's my sand dollar story. LOL. Carry on. Glad you had a nice trip!
