Must be Murphy's law that if you lose a chicken it will always be your favorite. If you lose a chicken it will not be a rooster. The daughter of My avatar is missing. one of only 2 gray egg layers. boo!

Seems like that's how it works, though they all eventually go. Maybe she's hiding eggs? I just had a 9 year old hen disappear, so I feel your pain.

So sorry. Hopefully she is off being broody somewhere and will turn up. I'm curious.....gray eggs? Love to see them. Do you have any pictures?

I found her- the sneak! Earlier in the season I bought eggs from a farm, she sat on some, and another hen sat on the rest. when they hatched I gave all to the other hen. She must have gotten mad at me and went off to hide eggs. They didn't hatch though, no rooster.
