Murray McMurray & Ideal Poultry Hatchery's Polish

Quote:
I've ordered chickens from McMurray several times. In my last order I received 4 polish. 2 golden, 1 silver, and 1 white crested black. They're beautiful beautiful birds. Unfortunatley, the last one was eaten by a raccoon last week:/ But I recommend McMurray.

There was a whole thread on this some time ago.

If you don't know chickens well, any Polish looks the same, and can be called beautiful. Otherwise, no, Murray McMurray does not have good polish. Their Buff Laced Polish aren't even laced, their Silver Laced can vary but are usually spangled, not laced, and their gold laced are usually more spangled than laced. Their White Crested Blacks can vary, but are often quite pretty. Also, a lot of their polish have tiny, spindly, nasty looking crests.

Here's a WCB.

Here's another with a small, spindly crest.

Here's a Silver Laced. Her crest has been trimmed, but I got VERY lucky with her lacing. Her "sister" was almost all white.

I've got 4 polish from Ideal, now approx 7weeks old. They've all turned out beautifully!! They all have beautiful crests. Even the cockrels have good crests, though spikey. The two pullets have full fluffy crests, with one having to be trimmed for vision issues!! If I were gonna order more polish, I would order from Ideal in a heartbeat! Very pleased with the quality

I ordered 1 Buff Laced Polish from Murry McMurray in March, she just started laying this week!
I'm personally very happy with how she's matured, her lacing is crisp and even.
She has a full beard and nice crest feathers, IMHO. I don't know much about the Polish standard, but I'm happy with her!

This is Dorota. She's a dirty girl in these pictures, dust bathing!

Here are some Ideal Polish which I ordered in July 2010. They are now 9 weeks old. The pics were taken 2 weeks ago.

Supposedly, Black crested white, but it looks more like a black crested splash. Which I don't mind.

Silver laced polish, I was told by another BYC member that the lacing will turn out better as they age.

A silver laced and a gold laced. You can tell the lacing isn't great, and they are still juveniles in this pic, but I hope their lacing gets better when they mature.

We ordered 5 GL Polish from mcMurray and all arrived heathy and vibrant. In fact we ordered 35 chicks total, received 38 and all are doing great. Was really happy about McMurray's service and the hardiness of the birds. It's our first order with them and we would order from them again. We were looking for birds to add to our barnyard flock and these fit the bill perfectly. We will be buying some more from local breeders as time goes on, but I would not hesitate to order from McMurrays again.

The young Polish have been very friendly and inquisitive. Can't wait to see what the adults look like. Should be interesting.

Last August I ordered 50 from McMurray. We received 53 I kept 27 and sold the rest. We lost one in shipping and 2 just weakened and didn't make it. While not show quality the rest are nice birds with good lacing and nice crests. After weeding out the 9 roosters down to 3 and losing some to predators we still have 18 of them left. I haven't gotten Polish anywhere else so I don't have a comparison but we were happy with ours.
