Muscovies?????

no lol I bought her with a male (I bought them as a pair) and one day the male just wasn't there no feathers NOTHING I was devastated so I plan on buying her a hubby ASAP and don't worry ill post some pics
That's sad, I hope you can find her a hubby soon. What breed? [I know this is the duck thread but]

Muscovies are my absolute favorite duck. They make no loud noises at ALL! They are so sweet and cuddly if raised from babies. They aren't as scared of people as some breeds. I read that they act more like a goose. Mine was an absolute delight but be warned that imprinted drakes will get hormonal and get nippy and need hens. I want an imprinted female so bad. She would be so quiet I could sneak her in an apartment with me when I move out of my parents! They really enjoy their insects. Mine could catch a mosquito from right in the air. They are my favorite but that's just because they are like silent geese and I LOVE geese but I doubt I'll ever be anywhere I can have one because of the noise they make. I didn't mind mines Caruncles. I used to play with it all the time. Sure they may not be as cute as a call duck but they definitely have the personality and quirks that makes them good pets.

I had a very hormonal drake raised from a hatchling and can agree they can get unreasonable but thank goodness after a few months of me working with him and getting him 3 girls of his own he is a pretty mellow drake now at 2.5 yrs old. It was touch and go for a while though lol

Muscovies are really good incubators and lay lots of eggs.  I wish I would have fixed their wings so they couldn't fly.  Each hatch I say that.  I enjoy watching them with their ducklings and they grow so fast.  I have a hatch of 12 right now. Well they are 3 months old.
You may already be aware of this, but you can temporarily keep them from flying by just clipping some end wing feathers. To prevent flying, It has to be repeated each time they replace those feathers. Or you can let them fly again.

where does everybodys muscovies set??

Hopefully in the barn that said, in my horse barn, farm cats bed, under the truck cap, under a wood pile? in other words, where they bloody well please.

This is what mine looks like I heard they were good for meat but I would never kill her she's very sweet.

Here are some photos to show some of the variety of muscovy. The black ducks have a beautiful green iridescent sheen mine also have some blue and purple iridescent as well as the green. Super friendly, egg layers, great mothers.
How would you achieve the blue ish/grey laced looking one? Would you cross a black and white one with a lavender? Or a black one with a pure white one? They are stunning! Beautiful birds
