Mine have multiple places they could go but they choose to sleep under our deck at night. They roost on the deck and other things during the day but never at night. They also sit in our shed all day because there is food and water for them in there but again, never at night. They do what they want and I've never had any issues with it so I let them be. In the winter time I do put things around the outside of the deck to help keep the snow from drifting under there too bad but even when it has in the past they still stay under there! I'm assuming it feels safe to them being so close to the house.
