I’m considering breeding for Muscovy cross hinnie ducks.
About a year ago I got two straight run Peking ducklings from rural king hoping to raise them for egg production. However, they both turned out to be drakes so that didn’t work out. but I kept them anyway hoping to acquire some ducks to breed them to.
Then several months ago I inherited 6 more ducks from my godfather. 4 of those turned out to be drakes as well. Now I have 3 pekin drakes, 1 mallard drake, 2 Muscovy drakes and 2 Muscovy ducks.
I’m hoping to allow the 4 Muscovys to breed normally. Then next year breed their offspring to the 4 non-Muscovys. I’m given to understand the resulting offspring (ducks) should produce infertile eggs.
I have a neighbor who gets farm fresh eggs but refuses to eat fertilized eggs. Cracking them and throwing the fertilized ones in the trash.
I wish to raise the aforementioned hinnies to to produce consistently infertile eggs
However, I can’t find any information on how many eggs they will produce, or if they will be an abnormal size just that they do produce infertile eggs.
Have any of you guys raised accidental hinnies and know what their egg production is like?
