ANyone else ever had this problem? I witnessed my Muscovy drake (who is usually very sweet) raid one of the Rouen's nests when she was off of it for her break. He came out of the duck house carrying the egg, set it down and started eating it. I rushed in and stopped him, but the embryo was already dead. I have heard of drakes killing ducklings before, but never about raiding and eating the developing embryos! We have now taken to keeping the door to the ladies' house (yes we had already started to separate prior to hatch) closed until we can erect some sort of divider fencing.

Anyone else ever seen this happen?!

No, but clearly it's possible! Muscovy do eat meat, mice, frogs and so forth so i wouldn't put it past one. You've done the right thing by blocking the area off.

Possible the egg(embryo) was dead beforehand too, sorry that happened, wouldn't be to pleasant i would guess!

Yes I’ve just walked in to the duck pen and found a drake eating an egg/duckling .I wondered what happened to the other eggs I thought they might of been under they hay as she had a big nest .I will have to separate the drakes when she lays another batch of eggs.
