Muscovy Drake missing dew(?) claw slight bleeding

My 6 month old Muscovy Drake is missing his (dew?) claw and has slight oozing bleeding. DH said he noticed it a week ago. They have wood chips on dirt for flooring. What can I do to help this heal? Can we cauterize it or is there a special treatment for something like this?

You might clean it with warm water and check for infection. You could apply some neosporin and wrap it in vet wrap to keep it clean and allow it to heal.

Thanks Birdbrain. Will do. I might get the worst of it though. He's a pretty big boy with sharp claws.

Try wrapping him in a towel to limit his ability to totally thrash you.
