Muscovy Drake won't take a bath

I have a solid white muscovy male who absolutely won't take a bath. Instead he takes a fake bath in the dirt or mud. He is getting filthy and gross looking. Is this normal, is there anything I can do?

JK It's a duck! Yes it is normal to have a dirt¿¿¿¿ whatever they do. Give access to water and he will be fine.

Drakes can have a harder time getting into pools. What are you using? Shallow pans or steps to get in and out of a pool are important. In general drakes bathe less than hens.

I have one of those small plastic pools. I don't have a step though! That's probably what's going on, poor guy. The girls use it no problem so I figured he could too. I'm going to go and make a step right now. Thank you!!!

Boys are big Klutzes, they can't hop up on things like the hens can. I also provide shallow rubber pans where the boys can walk into and take a shallow bath.

I have parts of a tree I stole from our firewood before split I place them around the outside of the pool so everyone can get into the pool easy

Okay, he now has steps. I'm going to find a couple shallow pans to put out too. Hopefully that does the trick.
