Hi there.
We have a Muscovy duck that has become tired with swollen cheeks. He's been sat in one place for a couple of days now and seems able to take a little water but not really able to eat crushed corn as before. All the red parts of his face seem normal as before but just this swelling in the cheeks kinda at the base of the bill.
We'd welcome any input
Thanks
Paul

Welcome to BYC. How old is the duck, and can you post a picture? I am more familiar with chickens, but posting on the duck forum here and waiting for other duck people to chime in might help:

Is the area puffy like there is air under the cheeks, or is the tissue swollen? How do the eyes look—any bubbles or foam, or pus seen? If you have Poultry NutriDrench or other vitamin-electrolytes, I would give a few drops, along with more water.

Hi Eggcessive and thanks for your reply.
There's no foam or puss in or around the eyes but they seem to be partly closed some times as though going to sleep. I've added this picture which shows the cheeks that are fuller than normal. I've opened his bill and there's nothing stuck or visible at least.
Cheers
Paul
P.s. sorry for the delayed reply but being here in NZ we're in way different time zones !

Hi there
I've put a deeper container to allow nostrils to get in the water. I feed a mixture of cracked corn and he seems to like the chicken pellets and of coarse when he's free ranging there's plenty of bugs and worms etc now it's spring time. He still is not moving though just sat there but is drinking water but struggles to eat.
Thanks

Paul

Not sure it would cause this issue, but cracked corn, chicken feed, and bugs are not an appropriate diet. He needs duck food or he's going to have more problems in the future.
