muscovy duck question

Today, I gave my ducks away to a couple who have an assortment of ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, horses and a goat. Most of them are pretty old and they keep them as pets. In fact, all but a goose, the chicken hens and pea hens are male including two huge muscovy drakes. We talked about what might happen with another drake and 3 new ducks...

They have several areas separated by fences altho all of their current birds seem to co-exist together. They also have a pond and room to fly and roam... I watched their two muscovies waddle down to the pond. I think "my" ducks will be happier in such an environment so I feel I did the right thing. It is possible they will raise their babies for cash, but they say otherwise. That's another story.

I guess ducks aren't going to be my thing, at least until someday when I have a lot more room. I miss them but I suppose all's well that ends well. I think "Lucky" is now "Twice-Lucky".

Thanks everyone for your help.

You might want to look and see if there is a nest out there under your bush. My muscovies are wizards at hiding eggs. They can take twigs and such and you think there is nothing there - so dig a bit. That might also be why they were chasing the hens away. If there is a clutch of eggs, you want to find them - once they explode they'll stink.

This post is so weird!!!

I also have a large drake named Lucky, and I believe it was your drake, my drake has killed chickens before.
