So if i found someone with a chocolate drake and a blue, black, or lilac hen would they be sex linked?

It's my understanding that they have to be bred a certain way to be sex link. One of the parents have to be pure white. I think it only works with chocolate as the other parent. But, I've not done enough research on it. The very little knowledge I have is due to my own experience and at the time, I was leary but the person I got them from was spot on.

The drake has to be khaki or chocolate. The hen any color but khaki or chocolate. Those pairings would work.

Oh? I was under the impression one had to be white, but like I said that was my case. The hen was white. Like I said though, I've never looked into it that much.

White is a good option, but not necessary, no. The sex-linked trait comes from the khaki / chocolate drake.

So if i found someone breeding a chocolate or khaki to a different colored female thag would be great!
Lets say it was a chocolate drake to a black female would the females all be black and drakes all be chocolate?

Interestingly, it’s actually the other way around! The drakes would be black, and the hens would be chocolate!

Hey I got a couple muscovy ducks recently and I've been struggling to determine the sex. I have read tons of threads and stuff here and on reddit but I'm super new to ducks (I've always had chickens). I've made a post in hopes some people with more experience can offer their feedback but I also wanted to leave a comment. In the past few days I've been reading tons of threads and @Miss Lydia you seem to be everywhere helping people so I wanted to try to reach out and see if you'd be able to make a guess on what gender my ducks are. Here are some pictures (If this isn't enough I have 16 pictures and 2 Videos posted on my thread) please take a look if you have a minute. Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert, but they look all the same size to me and their caruncles look to be about the same size and color, so I think you have all females.

Thats what i was thinking is they are all females.
But again i have little experience
