I have two muscovy ducks that i bought off of craigslist, the people that sold them to me seemed pretty knowledgeable about them and had a bunch of muscovies. I was told they were female but kinda questioning it. Specifically the lavender one. That one is slightly bigger (could be bc shes older) has a broad tail and a slightly redder beak than the other but both make whistling noises, no hissing or anything. They said they were 4 months old-
hopefully i didn't get another male

One of my girls has a rounder tail and they often flare them out making them look rounder. The lack of caruncle growth makes me think they are girls. My boys all started growing theirs around 12 weeks. My girls are around 4 months old and they probably have slightly more caruncle growth than yours do and the boy we've kept is quite red on his face now. Your lavender one also has a more compact body than I'd expect a boy to have.

ah okay. i also noticed that she has a small but noticable crest but i think it would be more prominent in a male. also this one is from a hatch a month earlier so thats probably why shes bigger than the black one.

here's her and my drake and also one with the black one, it looks like they're about the same size i think. i dont know if this means anything-
i think she would be a lot bigger if she were a male though

im also kind of questioning the black one too. she doesn't really hiss or make too much noise (or at least i haven't heard a hiss whenever im out there) but she does quack she bites and nips at the lavender ones feathers and neck sometimes and doesn't seem to like the drake too much and chases him away whenever they're in the pool. is this normal for female muscovies or..
