Hi all,
I've been a member on here for 36 days. I bought some muscovy ducks a while back and when one of the females started laying eggs, I was clueless as what to do.
Fortunately I found this site and all you wonderful people who give great advise.
I was very very disappointed on day 20 when I candled two of the 19 eggs and there was nothing, I wasn't expecting any to hatch. Low and behold, around 36 hours ago, surprise surprise, 10 little ducklings.
Yeah I know I'm letting them swim on their first day out, blame mommy duck, I've let her do her thing all the way through. She is a fantastic mother, had a bit of drama this morning when she first brought the ducklings out the nest. The male and the other females were attacking the ducklings, looked a bit heavy to be just the pecking order so had to set up this makeshift area for them. She was great, attacked me like I was a fox.
Thank you all so very much for all your great advise, very much appreciated.
