how to get cochin hen to go broody

You really can't. It's also getting late in the season for it. It's not 100%, but generally hen's go broody in the spring and summer when they get a hormonal "signal" that it's time to hatch babies. Broodiness is not as common in late summer/fall/winter (although not completely unheard of).

Again, it's not something YOU can control. Each individual bird either has the desire to go broody or they don't, and there's no way to make it happen other than having breeds that are known for broodiness (cochins are one of those breeds, but even within typically broody breeds there will be some who are more likely than others to do it).

She will decide when she's ready. I don't think there is much you can do to encourage that. You can provide her with a clean, safe, and comfortable space so when she's ready, she won't have to struggle to find a good spot. But even then, she may totally ignore your best efforts and find her own spot, lol.

The only thing that *may* help is putting a pile of fake eggs (or golf balls in a pinch) into a nesting box and seeing if she will take the bait and start sitting. It could take a few days, weeks, or months though!
