Hi

Glad to be here from the UK.

We have some Muscovy ducks that we rescued plus 3 girls that flew in and stayed. We've tried to collect the eggs to eat to stop them breeding but one of the females has taken to sitting in the woods opposite. It took us ages to find where she was as it turns out she is nesting about 30 feet up a tree in a big crown. I read they nest and breed up there but was curious as to how the ducklings get down.

Also is she likely to bring the ducklings home? It is a bit tricky for her to get in as we have a mostly walled garden and the brook we have running through is secure at both ends to try to keep foxes out.

Thanks

Dave

She won't be able to get the ducklings into your secure walled garden but she'll get them down out of the tree just like wood ducks do their ducklings she'll fly down then call them out they will jump and land hopefully on the ground with out injury it is quite amazing to watch I have seen documentary about wood ducklings jumping from 30' up. If you can guesstimate about when they will hatch [35 days for scovy's] maybe you can be there for the event. And let them inside.

:welcome
