Muscovy ducks

So I have a question, my male Muscovy duck, the black one, sits on the eggs. He’s the only one. He would get off sometime to come eat and he sees the girl one, he’ll chase he and try to get on top of her. My husband took the eggs yesterday because he’s been on them for like almost a month. And now he’s fine, he’s out and about, and doesn’t mess with the girl. Does anyone know why he would sit on them??

Well, it's possible he might have been brooding on them. I don't know a lot about ducks, but our drake we had a few years ago would occassionaly hang with a nesting female

Can you post a better picture? Like to see face better. I’ve had Muscovy since 2004 and have never had on sit on eggs he’ll go in an look at them but never sit on them. Have you actually seen this ones male part?

How old is he? He doesn’t look very masculine, unless he looks like that and is still really young.

Yeah. Males usually have way more bumps on their faces

That’s a female and that’s the reason the eggs didn’t hatch.
