Last night when I went to put my birds to bed I went a little later then normal and came down to see a raccoon in the woods and my hen (Harriet) on the ground barely moving. Everybody else is safe and got no harm. Her on the other hand got either bit or scratched on the wing, neck, and right above her tail. The cuts themselves don't look deep and I've been cleaning regularly. But she can't really stand and doesn't have much motion in her neck. Also seems very disorganized when she does try to move. Very tired but I can totally see why. I don't have the ability to go o the vet with her but I have brought her inside because I've been having to help her drink (Which her water has vitamins and electrolytes in it) and I so far haven't been able to get her to eat food.
She just seems to still have the life in her and I want to make sure I can do as much as I can for her even if she ends up passing.
When I'm not in the room I have a skype siuation setup so I can still see her and she has a dog crate for the while she's inside.
Here are some photos:
That's how she's been sitting since I brought her inside last night
That's what her beat up wing looks like it wasn't that bad (like I said the cuts looked not deep or that rough just bloody)
That's her neck some of the black is her feathers that need a better clean last nights clean was really to just see damage and it's weird from what I can see she only has one spot where the raccon actually latched on at the nack but she doesn't have much movement at all. Also might want to add that when I help her drink when i help her move to drink she doesn't seem in pain when I touch her neck.
The cuts on her bum aren't bad (and are very difficult to get a photo of cause of those feathers but she does tense up when we clean those and they are a little tiny bit more deep then (not by much but they are) then the other scraps she has. And she lost pretty much half her tail but I don't think that's bothering her.
Also the bald on the top of her head is from my drake and not the raccoon. Overall I'm just wondering if anyone knows if there's anything else I can do? And if it's a good idea to keep her inside till she can drink on her own or atleast have more movement?
