well, I have 5 wiggling babies in lockdown on day 34. I hope they hatch. One is internally pipped, the others are not. I noticed the internal pip last night, so he has been internally pipped for almost 24 hours now. Are there others on the thread with incubating experience? How long does it take them to externally pip?

yes.... I incubated lots last year, they are MUCH slower than a chick (as in chicken)

The last time I hatched scovies in the bator it took forever for them to hatch. They don't pop out like chicks do. It may take a few days or so.

so I may have a multiple day wait still? When should I worry? This is my first round with Muscovy.

If they are only on day 34 I wouldn't worry. I wouldn't be concerned until day 37. What is your humidity?

not sure, can't check right now, what should it be at? I think it was close to 60, but it may have dropped a little, I am using my grandpas incubator he built and I haven't figured out humidity in it for the long term, it is a thirsty thing, I add water a lot.

60 should be fine. I wouldn't let it get higher than 70

ok cool! How low is too low? I have to work all day so no one is available to feed the monster water during the day.

I wouldn't let it get any lower than 50%. I use a styrofoam bator so I don't have to add water too often.
