Muscovy keepers share your pics!

My Muacovy female has stopped laying.
She only started (for the first time ever) about a month ago, and now there's nothing!

Sometimes she goes in the nest box for about half an hour but there's never anything in there.

What does this mean? Any help would be much appreciated.x
Muscovy are not prolific layers as some of the mallard derived ducks. They lay on average about 35 eggs in a season. So it is quite normal that after a month she's taken a break. It's likely she may resume. Keep fingers crossed.

Hey thanks for your help, there was an egg this morning actually! After 3 days of none...

Uh....... Muscovies lay way more than 35 eggs in one season, that Dan she two clutches in one season so... And muscovies lay way more eggs than probably any mallard derived breed since they are their own little species, so whatever the case your gonna have way more than 35 eggs in a season. My muscovies for sure each lay maybe 75+ eggs on average for a healthy beautiful hen ,in one season, or at least more than 50 for the older girls

it depends entirely on the hen. Some hens may only lay two clutched and have maybe 15 in each clutch. My hens usually lay three clutches after there second year. Which is only about maybe 30-45 eggs total. They usually lay about 10-16 eggs a clutch. This is from experience from the many many hens I've raised and ones I've bought from breeders I would say 75 is pushing it. And actually mallard derived breeds lay WAY more eggs than muscovys the khaki Campbell and Indian runners lay over 200 eggs a year. I would have to say muscovys actually lay the least amount of eggs if you start comparing. But they are the best mothers.

Are u sure? I've alwaysbeen told that muscovies lay way more eggs than mallards but :/ I'm prob wrong and yes my females lay a lot of eggs, so 75 is about right for me, per clutch I can have up to 35 eggs
