I'm wondering with Muscovies how old until you can start getting an idea on the gender? We have two and are very very attached to them both...I would hate for both to be drakes and have to give one up. It is giving me slight anxiety lol.

Any tips or tricks for a muscovy newbie?

Once you've raised several batches of Muscovy ducklings, you start noticing little quirks that the males have (I've noticed that males are WAY lazier, for one). I can usually guess the sex when they are only a few days old, but you can't know for sure until about two months old.

The males' bodies grow faster, but the females' feathers grow before the males. I usually have good idea of the sex when they have just started getting their feathers – the females will have feather sprouts and the males won't for a few more days.

Do you have any pictures of their entire body?

Easy solution, just buy 4 muscoveys females! :lol:

Yes, I do :)

From day one I've been calling one a boy and one a girl. I'm probably wrong since it is just a guess.







Edited to add: They hatched on the same day. June 23rd.
