Muscovy keepers share your pics!

My girl Betty has just layed 10 eggs. She keeps moving them from nest to nest. I'm wondering why she is doing this. Could it be she isn't happy where she has them. She has layed them in the chicken coop. Ihave a dog house igloo. Wonder isf I put it in the yard would she prefer that. The only thing with that is it would be outside. I wouldn't want a Fisher or predictor

Here they are again. You can see the difference in size of the middle one and the white one is just as big. I'm hoping someone can tell me the genders by now.

Yes, I think the two larger ones are males. They're definitely old enough that you should see a definite difference. Also, you can look at the feet and wings:

These two feet were taken from the same picture, and both ducks were equally close to the camera. A male's foot really is that much larger. Here are more comparisons:

(this was where I grabbed the feet picture shown above)

This shows the wings. In the middle is a female. The other two are males. The male's wings (left) are not nearly as grown as the female.

The two with their heads in the water bucket - male on the left, female on the right. The duck on the right with his head out of the water is also a male.

And the wings – females will grow wing feather sprouts earlier than the males, and their wings will be fully developed long before the males' wings are. The males just have a more 'masculine' look, as well. Hope this helps!

My draco hurt his leg n I think it's my fault

. I startled him in a weird position and I think it caused him to sprain his leg. It really hurts..
I had a young male who injured his leg I think similarly. It wasn't broken, but he couldn't put weight on EITHER leg, hardly. We don't know what happened (it was during the night). We just put him in a calm, shady place with his siblings and put water where he could reach it without standing. He healed within a few days.

Is your duck moving around frequently? Even if he can actually move, he might heal quicker if he is not. Also, bathing can help because it keeps all the weight off the leg.

How is he doing now? You first asked three days ago...not sure if I am too late to help!

Wow thank you for all the great knowledge! It all makes so much sense. Yes the 2 Big ones have bigger feet and shorter wings.

Not too late, he's doing pretty well now. He has a slight limp and will collapse if moved fast but he's getting around alot better. Thank you!!
