I swear this happens every single year for my muscovy babies, why do they insist on tearing out each others new forming feathers, i know its a form of cannibalism but i mean, its so not okay, they get enough protein and everything just

i want them to stop i already separated them btw

are they with a Momma duck?

All our Muscovy ducklings that were raised without Momma did that. It drives me crazy! We had to separate for worst offenders to manage this. Not all the duckling do that, only a few, but they do not stop unless they are separated.

I have this problem pretty much every single year I've learned how to deal with it so its not really a prob, just annoying, I think its from them being inside ducks till they are juveniles, they go outside on field trips so pretty much every other day now and they always get baths, they're just bored so i think they go cannibalistic after tasting the blood :'(

Oh yeas of course, except for the most problematic one, i separated him last and i'm trying to find an adequate dog crate for him, ( i use medium to large dog crates, or massive plastic brooders when i separate them)

No i'm momma duck, and i call myself momma duck since when has a daddy muscovy actually help hatch and care for the babies, Daddy ducks just protect the flock, so to pretty much every single one of my babies that I've had, i'm momma duck actually let me rephrase, i'm great, big, massive momma duck. Even if they're biological mom hatches them i take them up, and they imprint on me i dot his to relieve the mom of stress and since she was my baby she doesn't exactly know how to raise babies, as they get older and become un manageable so i find this the easiest way, but most babies i hatch

and yeah in past years i just had to separate them into groups, since the ones that picked wouldn't pick specific others so i separated them like that, this year they all pick, just my baby girl doesn't pick as much because well she's the smallest, the males all pick because they're all different colors so they go after each other, it has nothing to do with them being males, they're just different colors

One of mine, my first egg to hatch came out the wrong way and I had never seen an egg hatch before let alone help. I just followed the instructions on the goose egg hatching post, wrapped in saran wrap, made sure membrane was not dry, tryd to avoid picking at it and help, as long as there was a hole to breathe in the right spot let him take his time. I kept him in my bra cause i didnt have a brooder. He did just fine. I was the nervous wreck.

Bravo. Nice to hear a success story now and then.
