Hello Everyone

I am new to this group and to raising ducks. We rescued 2 ducks via a post made in a Facebook group some time after Easter in 2015. This is her 3rd batch 13quacklings waiting on 14th.*Nit sure how to navigate within the site yet. I have a few questions just not sure where or how to post.
Ask away. Someone will answer. You are in the correct place.

Yay! My second muscovy went broody! Sitting half a day yesterday and whole day today! She's only sitting on about 8 eggs though. I'll give her some aylesbury eggs in a week

My drake is alone though and started attacking my exhibition aylesbury drake - finally he found someone his size but he was biting him in shoulders and the poor fella was bleeding from both sides!!!! I had to separate the muscovy drake. Not sure what to do. Do you think if I give evidence him some more muscovy wife's he would leave aylesbiry in peace? Another option is to fence muscovies and aylesburys off each other.

Fencing him off is the best option. Male muscovies get very aggressive with other males no matter the breed. Sometimes even towards ganders and roosters if there's any around. That's why I try to have only one drake in the yard if I can.

I think you are right. Other Drakes can be affresive too but muscovies are actually able to harm them.
He used to literally rape campbell drakes. Aylesbury is the same size as him so he can't. But they still right - a lot!
I'll have to make separate house for muscovies as one is currently occupied by the broody duck.
By the way I only had only duckling hatched this weekend

13 eggs in the incubator. I bet if their mother incubated them many more would hatch but she got lost

Very sad news to report. Lost my broody last night. Something got her eggs and killed her. I'm not finding any tracks so I'm guessing big rat snake?? She was intact, head tucked under as if asleep but up against the fence. 9 of her eggs were missing and one looked like it had been cracked during a scuffle. So sickening
