Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I know what you mean about the drake and the others being around. Can you move them??

I think she is done at 24. I'm afraid they are not all hers. Some might be from our ducks. I don't know what I will do if they start hatching at 28 days.

for lock down. I'll see you on the other thread

I can, but I'm afraid she'll get peeved at me and walk away from the eggs. Never trust a broody

Lol

I have totally fallen in love all over again...

My 11 month old broody hen, hatched out her very first clutch of 13 babies. We lost one soon after hatch, so she has a total of 12. Not bad for starting with 14 eggs, one was an early quitter she kicked out of the nest at about day 25

Hatch day (35) was set for May 19th, however apparently things work differently when you let them do all the work. The hatch started on day 38, May 22 and finished this morning just shy of 48 hours later.

Congrats! Looks like you have a handful of fun colors there, too!

Thanks! This has completely been not only an entertaining, but also an educational experience. I have learned quite a lot about how horrible we are at brooding and incubating.. lol I lucked out in getting a hen that not only does whet mamas are supposed to, but does it so well for her age. Amazing how they know all this.. (the whole incubation process.. how she would take bathes daily (humidity) .. and cool downs...plus brooding!) her instincts are all I could ever ask for from a bird, and she is definitely worth her weight in gold.

She's beautiful and those are some cuties. I have decided to never incubate Muscovy eggs again and just let the broodies take care of business since I failed so horribly.
