Muscovy keepers share your pics!

They sure are calm compared to the pekins and the khaki. The pekins are definitely the more social (and vocal) of the bunch! I'm still clueless as to what sex they are. They will be 4 weeks old on Tuesday. I will take pictures on that day and post them... hopefully by then I might have an idea as to what they might be

So cute!

Hello All, We received our first duck eggs this week. I was thinking of baking some brownies with them. Anyone have any good recipes on using these wonderful eggs?
They do real well in brownies, I am making pumpkin bread for the first time using my goose eggs, duck eggs would work too but I have never used my goose eggs for baking yet so going to use them this time. Duck eggs make everything very moist. and yummy.

Congrats on your first duck eggs!

If you were just wanting a brownie recipe I can help with that!

1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of softened butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 chicken eggs which looks like would be 1 of your duck eggs!
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

cream the butter with the sugar then stir in your vanilla and your egg.
Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and salt.

I bake these for 25 minutes at 350 degrees and they're sooo good.

Sometimes I add in a tablespoon of coffee if I already have some made and I like to top with fresh nuts before I put them in the oven! (usually pecans is what we have on hand, but any nuts should work)

However, if you were just wanting suggestions as to what to use your duck eggs in then I can't really help being that I haven't had duck eggs yet

Hope you enjoy your eggs!

Today was sunny and above freezing temperature so the family had another day outside the shed. You can see that one of them is smaller and still more like a fluff ball while the others have already developed a more "duckish" figure. Mother duck looks after her offspring well and even gave on them which had fallen on its back a push so it would roll back on its belly. Unfortunately I had no camera with me when that happened.
