Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Ouch! one of my ducks is permanently missing a few nails, she came that way i think the breeder had some trouble catching them as they were NOT tame at all. I need to check the guys over this morning, last night you couldn't see anything and there was no new blood nor limping etc

We have been hit with another storm, so i have snow again(well more). The storm is supposed to continue throughout today but i have my kids home, so i'll grab one of them and have them help me check the boys over.

I agree, i wish they'd quit it. To be honest, BD would do better in a singular drake flock, i may end up selling him, especially if Dusty drops me another blue drake it'll be hard to turn down that opportunity again.
You sure had a beautiful blue in your last yr. hatch. I don't know why I felt it was necessary to keep my drake that hatched last yr. I knew what would come of it, but he was just so cute and ate out of my hand at such an early age, plus he was such a good friend to my only duck that hatched a month later, all those reasons and I am nuts.

They started laying - 1st egg yesterday, another today!
Unfortunately have some pyreneese retraining to do......
The young one is playing too rough with the birds, plays with the eggs and if they break.....dinner. Can't have that.
Nope too many times ducks are killed by dogs playing to rough. .

I have a bossy hen, and only one drake. When the hen comes off her nest, she checks for one of the other hens and gives her grief. A third hen is not bothered, but she's not nesting either. The 4th hen won't stay in the pen and has her nest under the deck away from the bossy bird. I've not seen any blood though, so suspect that's it's just a "I'm the bird" type thing where she just pecks at the others. My roosters have had some good fights though and have to watch so they stay in their own yards.

Another week has passed, time for more duckling photos!

My largest duckling, called Soenke, posing for a picture.

Every morning I open the shed and take a look at them they stand upright like my pekins.
Is that normal for Scovies or might that be a sign that they are actually moulards? I should know better since I got my first muscovies at the age of 3 1/2 weeks, but I cannot remember them standig that upright.

Largest and smallest ducklings cuddling. The difference in size is striking, but fuzzball is definetely developing.

Frank they are precious, now does the one the largest in the first pic have the bean tip on it's bill like a Scovie should have, it almost looks like it doesn't. could you have some of each in that group, I can see the bean tip in some but not all. Looking forward to seeing what colors you get.. love the little fuzz ball what a sweet pic.

Oh thanks Miss Lydia

As soon as my camera is fully charged, I will try to get some close-ups of their bills. I think I know what you mean, the bean of a Scovie looks more like a hook, but so far I never paid attention to this. I don't have that much experience with Scovies so far so I am glad to get some valid information

I am also excited about the colouring, espeacially the greyish-yellows and the black and yellow ones.
I know that my runner drake used to mate with the mother several times but never quite succeeded because of her size, but I wasn't always sehr to watch and my pekin drake could also have gone for a try.

uhm quick pictures and questions, are these scovie eggs, I KNOW she has been laying and I have nothing in the pen with her that could have possibly laied these eggs excepet for a black ameraucana hen but she lays consistant eggs so weird....
