They are both pretty, why do they live in your kitchen?

Dinah lives in the kitchen as I got her with her sister at a poultry swap. They were quarantined there as babies. Then the sister came down with something and passed. I kept Dinah in longer to make sure she was not contagious. I've been moving her outside slowly, but she has to learn how to live in a group now. Yesterday she was outside and at dusk she came up and knocked on the door, wanting to be let back inside. It's a process.

Turns out one of Dory's eggs was a dud, so now she's got a dozen of healthy eggs under her. It had a very LARGE yolk.

Wow and close to hatch day? 

Those have about 2 or 3 weeks before they hatch. The ones in my incubator have about a week.

Well......I moved my muscovies around again.

The last of my last batch of ducklings got sold and or eaten.

So, Mama duck (Kuhflecken) got put back with the other adults. The drake (we call him drake ) was happy to see her and that went well. We decided to keep one of the daughters, she is just so pretty, but we haven't decided on a name for her yet.

Anyway, we took the daughter and put her in with the adults (the same time we put in her mother), and it looks like it will go well. Drake of course is bothering her a bit, but I don't think too badly, and of course she is quicker than he is.

But, in catching her up and moving her over, we must have caught her toe on something. It is bleeding a little, and I looked, but couldn't see where it is bleeding from. Blach, I am sure she will be fine, but I sure feel badly for her. Also, to avoid the drake, she is sitting in the porch area of their coop, and so standing on the snow. A single drop of blood on snow looks just so terrible, and very large.

Anyway, I will keep checking on her, and make sure they settle well tonight.
