so much stress here with the flock. Boys are picking on each other, the young boys picking on the girls, the girls picking on each other. I have too many males I think. Still haven't sold one

One of my females just started doing this since she went broody
this might sound silly I'm new to the duck/chicken world, but what does broody mean?
My extra males become dinner. Seeing as we normally keep one drake with at least 5 females, the drakes have to go that way. Muscovy meat is very nice and also healthy, have you eaten it?so much stress here with the flock. Boys are picking on each other, the young boys picking on the girls, the girls picking on each other. I'm not able to process any of my Scovys one reason I am not hatching this year, have a hard time selling them too. So I am practicing birth control, no different than what I would do if I had dogs that weren't fixed. TherryChicken, how large an area do they have? maybe their in too close quarters I have too keep some of my boys seaprate from each other during mating season, and yep the girls get into it too, and of course the youngest drakes are full of them selves and want to mate all the time, It can get crazy. Keep an eye on your girls and if you have to make a drake pen then do that. It's all part of keeping Muscovy's or any other poultry really.no I have not

Getting them into a larger area will help but there is always going to be a dominant drake and those that want his position.their area is pretty small for all of them, but we are working on building everyone a much larger area. Their new coop will be 18' x 15'
