We lost this little one overnight. Poor little thing had fallen out of the nest and was cold and rock solid this morning :-(
He was having trouble keeping up with mumma and siblings out in the yard yesterday and I thought to myself I should move him inside then second guessed myself.
Kicking myself now for not following my gut instinct :-(

aw, that is a shame, sorry to hear that. It's hard to judge though, they are better with their mothers as a single duckling it would stress it to the max, it's possible something could have been wrong that you could not see too.

I got this one out using a rake. I have no idea how far back the hole goes or if there are other eggs.

Yikes! that is one of my worries! getting way under somewhere, i have had mine make nests under tractor equipment, in the horse barn, the farm cats box... under a wood pile...

Kristof is turning into a very pretty girl. Her chest is coming in brown and black checkers, her tail and wings are coming in that black/green color (I LOVE that on ducks!). Can't wait to see what she turns out looking like
