Muscovy keepers share your pics!

you mean canizie gene, and the head can turn white at any time, not just 3 years old
Yes, thank you. I didn't realize it auto corrected. And I know it starts to turn white before then, but by 3 years old their heads have turned completely :)

Check with Country Hatchery in Oklahoma. I ordered my Muscovies from them and they shipped the ducklings to me in Florida. They are all very healthy and growing like weeds. http://www.countryhatchery.net/
I've heard great things about this hatchery, but I know their birds carry the canizie gene (their heads turn white) The canizie gene is dominate, so if both parents are solid colored and are at least 2 years old all ducklings should stay solid colored as well. The Muscovies around here are mainly used for food because everyone thinks they're ugly, all of them are black and white with white heads. I would like solid colored birds so people might also consider some as pets. I don't have the money to ship adults, as well as I'm scared of bringing in disease (particularly Avian Influenza) and having all our flock wiped out. There isn't any Avian vets around here, so I'd have to quarantine them and then judge for myself that they're healthy. I'd also consider hatching eggs depending on the price. :)

Please excuse the small area, I'm in the process of putting up breeding pens. N excuse my nagging childish voice, but here's draco :(

Aw yeah I'd probably separate him somewhere where he can't get it hurt worse by trying to climb on anything and the Epsom salt water soak and time and hopefully that heals him up.No problem. :)

make sure it's not dislocated by feeling the joints and never do that again. :he

Accidents happen.
