Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Hi All,

Here's a pic of the two muscovy females we got about a week ago. Love how quiet they are - they sound like songbirds! I have a question, though, and I am sorry if this has already been discussed in this thread already but -- how well do muscovies lay? And do they lay at all during the winter?

No they don't. Muscovies are not kept for eggs as they only lay 2-3 clutches of 10-20 eggs a year.
They are brilliant mothers, however, and have THE best tasting meat ever!

I keep mine for eggs. They lay till it starts getting cold then they stop till the next year

Ah I see. Well they can be my incubators in the future - have not had a ton of success incubating eggs and would LOVE to have a broody. I would love to taste their meat! Haven't been able to bring myself to terms with butchering our own, though - hope to brave that someday, though.
