Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Wobbles I hate to say it but looks like you have drakes. Okay now you go out and look at your ducks the girls will have their legs set closer together so when they walk they look like they may step on their own feet. the drakes legs are set father apart. all your pics are good but some weren't that easy to see the whole body but I'd say you have drakes mostly. Did you hatch these or buy them somewhere?
Aww shoot. I hope there is at least one girl in there. We bought them, 2 as day olds and 3 when they were already feathering out a lot. 2 of them are staying no matter what and though I like the other 3 too I could part with them to get girls.

Learycow, what color is your duckling? It's lovely.
Leary maybe you or some of the others with Lavenders could help me out.
I have some questions about Buff and Buff cream muscovy. I have been searching for pictures and have only found a few that are labled with the color. On this thread I have seen some that look like they could be Buff or Buff cream, but often with a what color is this question attached. Does anyone have pictures of these colors? Even the genetics calculator is missing photos of a number of colors. Do you have any tips or tricks that you have picked up breeding lavenders that would help a newbie spot a pastel duck like a Buff cream? Other than breeding it to a black duck, which I gather would tell you for sure. I have searched those colors, but I appologise if I'm repeating questions that have already been answered. Some of the websites that have been helpful so far are the Ugly Duck one and Cottage Roses.

Don't have any photos as I don't own lavenders..yet! Do you have a picture of the birds in question? Test breeding would be helpful but if you want more pastel birds both must either be lavender based or carry the gene.

Yes I do. He's starting to get sun faded, I'm hoping he will start his adult molt soon.

These are all the same drake. It's very hard to capture this ducks colors on camera for some reason. The breeder had a mixed colored flock that included lavender. I have a very nice lady interested in buying him and it would be a great placement for him. I'm worried that I might be letting a pastel slip between my fingers. I'm trying to get the lavender gene in my little flock. On the ugly duck farm website, it had a buff cream with splash that looked very similar to this duck. Mine doesn't have the splash. I'm trying to decide what color he is. Buff? I also would like to be able to acurately name the colors of the ducks I sell. It's bugging me, not knowing. I also have a female that might be a pastel light lavender, but i'm keeping her no matter what. With her I can be patient, wait, breed and see what the results are. Most pictures I run across that look like him do not identify the color. Thanks for your feed back, I didn't mean to imply I only wanted lavender owners imput. I would be grateful any help.

So I was looking at my scovies this a.m and one has a distinctly longer rear end. What could that mean?
did that happen over night?

Wobbles, the light duck standing up flapping it's wings might be a girl. The beak looks dainty? The others look like boys to me. This is just a guess. They are all lovely.

These are on page 1548 if you need to see the bigger versions. I can try for more if these don't work haha they don't cooperate :)

Photo six and eight of the small photos, are they the same duck? If so, it's the one that looks more girl like to me. All the others.... It's so hard with drakes, it's like the highlander movie. There can only be one!!! Well, unless you have four to five girls for each of them, seperate quarters and/or a lot of land. I was reading about packing peanuts, just shaking my head.

Yes those are the same one. We call her/him pearl...she is a stinker haha. I change my mind on who is what every day. One is seeming to slow down on the growth (darkest one).

Ok here we go. I forgot I had these on my camera. I will label them with their current names to make this easier.

Sara, this is the one with the long "butt area" looks totally different than the other fours back ends

Layla (a note on this one...huge thick legs but seemingly this one is staying smaller so far and to me its face is so girly but big beak so probably boy?)

I will have to take new ones of the other 2 tomorrow.
