Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I tried posting this elsewhere but maybe i should try the actual thread on scovies haha:

I'm gonna have to do some serious work with my to be colored muscovies, the males are easy enough to pick from but the hens seam to be in two distinctions (the same age), they are well masked but a bit smaller, or they are larger with next to no caruncleing. With the aim of being able to produce decent show stock, which trait is harder to breed up? caruncling? or size?
Thanks
Sib

I was out in the chicken yard at 6:00 AM this morning and saw that 2 of my muscovy ducks were in the pecan tree. These are not good pics because it was still dark but I thought this was cute. They fly all the way up in the tall pecan tree.

Beautiful ducks Bleenie

I like how your pools are in a 'fenced' off area with straw down.

Do you find the water stays cleaner longer using that method??? I think I will be doing something like that if you report a positive outcome.

Thank you

I keep their pools at the open end of their run, that way I don't have to worry about their sleeping area getting wet or icky. The straw on the ground does help keep the dirt and sand that's under the straw out but the water still has to be changed at least every other day because of poo... especially with broody girls

They do like laying on the straw outside the pools though too, I guess when they wanna be by the water but not in it

Oh my they are sooooooooo gorgeous!!!!
I'm about to be blessed with some Bleenie hatching eggs (ok not Bleenie's eggs, but her ducks' eggs LOL) and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! I've got the incubator out , and this morning I had a talk with my Duck Hens and Chicken Hens letting them know that any of them could go ahead and get in a broody mood now ...of course they probably won't oblige me because I want it so bad but a pep talk can't hurt right? ;-)
My Husband and I are also getting materials together to build a bigger duck house with a screened in porch.
