Muscovy keepers share your pics!

YES! LOL...that's exactly what I'm talking about. Our gray/white one doesn't ever do it, but our black (I call her "Beetle" because of the awesome colors) one has a little mohawk that she'll break out now and then...especially when we walk into their yard. It's actually quite cute...little punk rock looking, but cute! :)

My little Duck will do the mohawk thing, it is really funny... the Drake doesn't do it nearly as much.

Growing up... July 27, 2012 now about 8 weeks old?? not sure... anyhow I do love my Scovies!! They aren't as easy to condition to hold as chickens but they are calm and sweet and very comical. Also recommended reading for duck and assorted pet lovers... Enslaved By Ducks... it's a hoot! If you are in SE wisconsin and are interested in Scovies gimme a shout.

Fuzzies! SQUEEE! They're so cute!

My Muscovy Apollo decided to test his wings a few days ago and flew straight over his six foot fence. Hes only three months old!! Goodness. Anyway, I went out and he was staring down my rooster (Apollo being 3 times the size of him but he was ready to defend his girls non the less). I shooed him back into his pen with my two ducks and another drake (Im praying that they get along fine until I can find a home for my Swede boy

). I dont have any Muscovy females (yet) but Im just curious on ducks in general.. When do they start laying eggs? Mine are about 3 months so I probably have at least a few more months left but Im just wondering.

At least a couple more months, usually between 5-9 months. I just trimmed my 15 week olds wing, he was doing test runs in the driveway.

If I could get ahold of mine, Id clip his wing ... Hes not the most receptive to being held. Plus hes getting to be a BIG boy.
Thanks for the egg info. Im hoping that my two girls stay girls and my two boys get along

Thank god our 3 month old boy hasn't discovered his wings yet! He's done a million zoomies around their fenced in yard, which is rather hilarious to watch lmao and he hops like a rabbit!

On a good note.....Ellie bean's clutch is externally pipped!!!! SOOO excited! We are down to 10 good eggs, one disappeared the other day

and we threw a stinky one out tonight. These 10 seem to be doing wonderfully, all alive and working hard at their shells! Mommy is being ever so protective! LMAO

I have to get more pics of Eliza and the duckling my son decided to keep out of her clutch, I believe she is a she, and I could sit there for hours and watch this little duckling do zoomies around the barn trying to catch flies

makes my heart melt! She's almost 2 weeks old now!

Alright, our muscovy is about 5ish years old, in that 5 years she has always laid eggs with of couse no babys because we had no male ducks... And this year we have very horomonal male pekins who last week spent 2-3 nights in the pond with her... We couldn't find her and we were worried she was hurt. Here she was in the back of the dogs pen where theres a storage area for yard orniments and extra hay. Shes on a nest! We are unsure if they are fertile but we deffinatly know theres eggs in there. She would sit with her eggs for a day or 2 when she had them but seemed to have gotten bored of it. So we beleive that she mated with the pekins?? But I am going to put 1-2 fertile indian runner eggs in there just so we know some are good to hatch. Im so excited :D
