muscovy sexing question...

Yeah his beak looks very similar to my ducks except where that one has red mine has blackishpurple
And there are little pink spots at the corners
He's sitting on my shoulder (I'm laying down) so he could show me himself hahaha.
Thank you [=
The mystery has been solved (hopefully)
But his wings are pretty big but he looks older than the duck in the picture so that might be it.

Yeah, that's one of the points I wanted to make is that by the time the primary or flight feathers start coming in on drakelets they typically have a fair amount of caruncling on the bill like what is shown in the photo I posted. See how much caruncling my duckling had and he's not got any primaries coming in yet. So, the lack of caruncling and the presence of flights is one of the reasons I feel your duckling is a female. Females get their flight feathers in a lot sooner than males. I know I've posted the photo somewhere here but not sure if it's this thread - I have one of a barred & a chocolate ripple ducklets that have little or no caruncling and yet their flight feathers are nearly in.

Yeah, his are no where near that for sure.
I have a picture of his wings down but its on my computer.

I also have another question
He is a picky eater and will not eat his duck food I got from the mill, he perfers dog food and grass and weird things to that (like bugs and fritos and people food :|). And the dog food is not healthy for him. All his poop is big and smelly and is off in color. (Not like normal bird poop anyways) I can't get him to eat anything else. I try giving him mixed vegetables to help in his diet but he continues to eat the dog food.
Any ideas?

Actually dog food isn't the worst thing for him. A lot of people will feed a bit of dog or cat food as a treat because Muscovy thrive on animal proteins. They're a lot more omnivorous than the mallard derivs are. They'll eat mice, baby birds (chicks & ducklings, even!) etc. A bit isn't an altogether bad idea and most of the times it's made with grain as the main ingredient, anyway!

Commercial foods just aren't that palatable as a general rule. They're manipulated and ground & fiddled with and not all that fresh.

Grass and greens are fantastic foods, as are whole/chopped grains & black oil sunflower seeds. Insects are also great.

Ducks won't poop like chickens do, it's always a lot squishier/wetter. That's normal for them.

This is true two of my roen ducklings got in there pen and they killed one. The other escaped but was gnawed on.
