This may be a silly question, but as this is my first time raising ducks, thought I would ask. We have khaki hens (for eggs) and muscovy hens (for meat). Therefore we want to collect the khaki eggs daily for consumption while leaving the muscovy eggs for offspring. Our hens are only 5 months and have not started laying, but I thought I would get a head start to when we do see our first egg. So how do you tell a khaki egg from a muscovy? Is there a size or color difference?

Reviving this old thread:

A friend gave me two eggs, assumed to be muscovy. He has a single khaki campbell hen in the flock as well. The two eggs are Much Smaller than I expected- smaller than my harlequin & ancona duck eggs.

Are muscovy eggs smaller than other duck eggs?

I have one Muscovy and 2 Khaki Campbells and there is definitely a difference. The Khaki eggs have been white to slightly off white and medium to extra large in size. They have never been any other color or have had any spots. They're sort of boring. My muscovy lays much larger eggs than my Khakis. I have yet to be able to close a standard egg carton of her eggs. Her eggs also seem to have a much heftier shell. Her eggs are an interesting color...from a very light tan to a light army/khaki green color. Sometimes they are slightly spotted, but there isn't any rhyme or reason or pattern to the spotting. Her eggs also tend to be taller, or more oval shaped than the Khaki eggs. I hope this helps!
