I have eight Muscovy hens and we thought that three had gone broody as we found three nests. I realized today that one hen has been alternating between sitting on two nests so I am wondering what to do. We are two weeks into sitting and I really don't think any of the eggs would be viable as she has been off of both nests and back on with dropping temps in all these rain storms we have had. Should I destroy the eggs and let her start over? At a loss. Your opinions are appreciated. ET in Texas

I agree that the eggs are most likely a loss, two weeks in with alternating between setting isn't good. If it were me I would destroy both nests. I think you would have a better chance of getting some ducklings by starting with a clean slate, otherwise she will be wasting her time on unviable eggs.

Your duck is being territory, she wants all the eggs for herself, it helps if you pick up the eggs and leave them in the one nest, eventually the brooding duck will sit. My ducks lay eggs for 2 to 3 weeks before they sit tight on the eggs.
Good luck
Antoinette.
