My DH has been interested in mushrooms for a long time and finally started reading and researching them. We went to a couple of forays and keep in touch with an expert, known nationally for his expertise. We were walking through the yard the other day and found a couple of yellow chanterelles growing next to the duck pen. My DH says lets go for a ride through the woods and see if we can find any more. Well, a week ago last Sunday we came home with a nice big basket of chanterelles. So this Sunday, we decided to go again. After about three hours we were hot and tired and headed back to the house....with about 20 pounds of yellow chanterelles. I took a drive out yesterday evening and it looks there are more out there now than there were Sunday. Any body want some mushroom soup?

OMG...... thats awesome!!!!! When i was a kid, my mom had a boyfriend that knew mushrooms. He took us out for a nature walk in the woods hunting mushrooms. When we returned, he made mushroom soup and it was the best!!!!! I personally know nothing other than i loved his soup. Looks like your going to have a lot of soup

We have a few of those in our yard... I didn't know they were edible! I'll have to tell my dad, but he's a little suspicious of anything that's not a true moral. I hope you enjoy your soup!

Looks like you've got some mushroom drying to do. I think steaks with mushroom sauce and blue cheese might be in order as well. Can I come for dinner?

Boy that steak thing sounds great. I have some blue mixed with a yellow, can't remember what kind, we got it in wisconsin. How do you serve that blue cheese to go with the steak and mushroom sauce?

I'm glad you have an expert to help you with this! I wouldn't trust myself to go our picking mushrooms in my yard. I'd probably pick all the toadstools and make myself sick.

Saute them with some butter, some sliced succhini and yellow squash, and a bit of bacon. Mmmm...!!

I'm in S.E.Arkansas as well, I've seen these mushrooms in our woods and out around the barn area but didn't know they were edible. How cool, congrats!
