Tempest picked up on the idea quickly and pawed the snow out of the way. What grass she uncovered, she devoured hungrily. Nursing a foal and growing another took a lot of nutrition.

(they got bred right after the foals were born)

Tempest looked up, hearing a snort. She flicked an ear and whinnied. "We're over here!"

Tornado came barreling out of the white to crash playfully into Jupiter. Full of his dam's warm milk, the colt was ready to play.

Tempest nickered a brief greeting to Beauty then resumed pawing through the snow. Before long, she'd come across a delicacy, an evergreen bush!

Tornado half-reared and bumped Jupiter with his hooves.

Beauty cantered over to Tempest. She stood there watching the foals play.

Jupiter reared and pounced on Tornado playfully.

Jake pawed up some food for Beauty. He wanted to eat it so bad,but he knew his mates needed it more. He backed up,making way for Beauty. He pawed another spot for Tempest. Then he ate some snow to fill his belly. He shivered as the freezing cold water slid down his throat. He then kept pawing up food.

Then he ate some snow to fill his belly. He shivered as the freezing cold water slid down his throat. He then kept pawing up food.

Tempest left Jake to eat what he dug up. She had quickly learned to uncover the grass herself, and that's what she was doing.

Tornado stopped suddenly and looked at his dam. Tempest had wandered farther away than Tornado wanted her to. Whinnying, he turned and trotted to her side, poking his head under her for another drink of warm milk.

Jake hungrily ate the grass Tempest and Beauty didn't want. Jake whinnied to his mares to come to him.
