Hi, I have a one year old male muted swan. I noticed a week ago he had 3 small pink bumps on his beak. Now they are larger and almost a black color. I’ve had swans before and I’ve never seen this. It could be bite from ants I don’t know. Has anyone seen this before on beaks? He is eating and drinking and acting perfectly normal.

Hi 👋🏼 and welcome to BYC. We have all kinds of poultry represented here, but I am not sure if I have seen a swan contingent here ... do we have one? 🤔 Let me ask one of the Admins.
@casportpony?
The few I knew haven't been active for some months now. I would think that whatever the bumps are is waterfowl/bill related and not solely swan.

Now I am curious. Can you purchase swans? Shouldn't he have a mate?
You can. I know a lot of major hatcheries such as McMurray, Cackle, Meyers, Stormberg, and others carry them, but they sell out early in the breeding season. And they can cost an arm and a leg.

I was wondering if any waterfowl has had this issue? I’m sure if a swan can get it so can ducks or other waterfowl. I’ve never seen this before and his mate is fine and so are my other ducks. That’s why I’m wondering if something bit his beak like ants?
