This is the baby to the hen that died on me.

She was IB split to charcoal. The problem was while she was in the shed with everyone, she had both males the Charcoal white eye and the Pied split to peach. I am thinking the pied got to her first cause the baby looks pied, but then there is the white eye charcoal - does he have white in him? Which is most likely the father? Here are the pics he is only a few hours old:

I have another question. I believe the bird is a female so far. Is it turning gray? The bird is changing color as the new feathers are growing in and they are gray to me. Below are some pics and one she is next to a young charcoal who is gray. If this bird does turn charcoal will it be fertile? I mean it has white on the wings and flight feathers? In the first picture you can clearly see the gray growing in. The next two I am trying to show where on the back the gray is to the brown. in the 2nd pic you can see the white on the wings and flight feathers. Is there a such thing as a charcoal pied?

Thanks Birdboy! Yes they are cute. I have another thread that has pics of 13 chicks but will be updated to 16 today.

Can anyone please answer my questions, please?

You can get all the patterns in charcoal including white eye, pied, silver pied, black shoulder and so on, if the breeder worked on adding them.
Maybe someone else with more experience will chime in, but looks like IB hen to me. My IB hen looks very grey anyway, so would think a charcoal hen would be darker? Maybe I would check some websites with good pics of charcoal hens.
If the hen was split to charcoal, and the male was charcoal that got to her for this chick - this chick could still be split charcoal.
If the pied split to peach is the daddy, would this chick still be split to charcoal like momma, and peach like daddy?
Do you have some pics of the possible daddies you could post?
Sorry not much help for the parentage ?. Still gotta love those hens!
