My 1st Chick **New Pics** Changing Color Questions Anyone?

The gray chick next to it is a charcoal chick. They start off looking like an IB chick then change to gray. My first chick is turning gray, as you can see in the first picture on post #6. The flash from the camera lightens the color. I got the birds from Deerman but he hasn't been on in a couple days LOL. Its a blue white eye ,not charcoal.

The charcoal do show the color at day old.......i did hatch a charcoal pied peacock.....you hen may be split pied....do you know the wing band number ,i can check my records.

The charcoal hen odd not good she will lay , but i was adding other pattern and even spalding into the charcoals ,as both have been known to lay

A few day old charcoal chick........note the silver case.
You should be able to tell a charcoal chick at hatching time.
sometime with pics someone may miss it because of lighting.

If the hen is IB split charcoal and the father is silver pied split peach does the chicks carry both genes? Would it be split to both charcoal and peach?
Is that the one of a kind bird

I think he would look even prettier in my pen LMAO!

To be IB silver pied it would need two pied genes. One from each parent.
It is split because it is carried by one parent.

About 50% male chicks would be split peach ...some female could be peach. 50% of the chicks will be split charcoal. yes you could get some male chicks split to charcoal and peach , also pieds.....trouble with split from split parents , u will not know untill u breed them.


Any time you breed a bird that is split 50% of the chicks will be split also, but will not be able tell my looking at them.
