Here is my first coop, completed about a month ago:

I like the design so much (copied from Dorothy Ainsworth), that I have decided to build a second. It will be a mirror image of the first one, with the runs facing each other.

Someone has given me a lot of 1" x 6" x 8' rough sawed Mahogany to use as siding. What do you think of using Mahogany on a chicken coop?

wow! mohagany. Thats expensive wood. Furniture type. I think I would sell it and build with something else or make a pretty table. Very nice coop. Jean

Great looking coop. Here is a picture of mine which is very similar. This pic is before the nest boxes were added.

WOW,

That is an awesome coop !! The wife and I had different ideas for our new coop, but you got me thinking one like this would be REALLY nice and with an extended run they would be happy as clams...

By the way, please say hello to our New Special Friend, Strawberry Alice (I got the name from a character in a Clint Eastwood western called UNFORGIVEN)... She's a 3 1/2 month old bantam cochin (an "oops" as described by our friend Jen (Buzzard Chick). Strawberry Alice has discovered she love the salad "dad" makes, that and millet sprays and dad's cornbread. Here less than a day and she's already spoiled rotten... LOL
